"Fish with the goggles!"

So, before Eden was born, Moses was a pretty orderly kid. After the sibling arrived, I feel like I don't even know him anymore. Maybe it's because he's not in daycare (structure and stimulation and enrichment is really good, but I'm unable to really provide that these days), but he's become really sensitive and flip floppy and dispbedient. I know it's probably just par for the course, as far as toddler adjusting to newborn stuff, but I sure do miss that precious time with my little buddy.

Anyway, just last night, when Mo was supposed to be going to sleep, he had taken every single article of clothing out of his dresser and strewn it all over his room. Apparently, he was looking for his shirt with the fish with the goggles. It ended up being left at nana's house, so of course he couldn't find it. But he sure did try. And made a really really big mess trying. Wow. I really don't know this kid.

I know my patience has been short and our relationship has been strained, but as all kid things go, I recognize this must be a phase too. I just hope it's not too long. *sigh*

I feel pretty

I'd been meaning to write this down for weeks! It's a real gem:

Moses and I were chilling and I said to him, "you're my buddy, moses, I love you."

He says to me, "you're my pretty girl. You're pretty, mommy."

Yes... We do have the best one. :) Love that kid.

He's a really special kid

Whenever Eden cries and Moses is nearby, he tells me why he thinks she's crying. It ranges from wanting to nurse, wanting her blanket, to wanting to snuggle. I think it's really remarkable that this 3 year old has the capacity to think of another person's needs this way. These two are going to be lifelong friends.

Also, I know he also really wants my attention and snuggles, so it really means a lot that he keeps putting aside his own desires/needs to make sure his baby sister is taken care of well. It's a step above just being a sweet big brother and good helper. I'm proud of this kid.

I had a slightly disappointing morning today, where he watched a Mickey Mouse clubhouse DVD on repeat while little Eden ate for hours. But, he seemed to be just fine. And even with absolutely no adult supervision for the whole time (e and I were in another room) the living room wasn't even messy at the end of it. He's such a great kid. I feel so honored to get to be his mom.

Brought you a treat, mommy!

Handing me the chocolate pastry that Shane bought for me, he says, "Actually, we have to share it, I think."
